Text yourself the link to your action plan

This is the consent screen exactly as it appears in George. Consent to text messaging is asked for on its own, separately from the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use.

What you are agreeing to

By entering a mobile number and checking that box, you agree to receive text messages from George Legal Technologies, PBC. Specifically:

How the opt-in works

George is a legal information service for Virginia tenants. At the end of a session it produces a written action plan, which you reach again through a private link and a return code. If you are working on a shared or public computer you cannot keep that link, so George can text it to your own phone instead.

After you enter your number and check the consent box, George texts you a six-digit passcode. You type that passcode back into the George web page, not as a reply to the text. Only after the passcode is accepted is the link to your plan sent. That second step exists so a mistyped number never receives someone else’s case.

If you have replied STOP, you can start receiving messages again by replying START to the same number. There is no other way to opt in: George never texts a number that was not entered by the person holding the phone and confirmed by passcode.
